Necklines / How low should you go?//
Ever wondered which neckline works for your body shape?
Follow my tips when deciding between the most common wedding dress necklines.
// Sweetheart
As the name suggests, the neckline follows the shape of the top of a heart. This is a pretty neckline which gives a classic bridal silhouette while accentuating the decolletage. It's a great neckline for a medium bust and shows just the right amount of cleavage. It gives the body length and the neck a longer line.
// Bateau
This is a uber elegant neckline because it offers cover above the bust and decolletage area. A number of brides are opting for this type of neckline at the moment with a sheer or lace overlay - known as the illusion neckline. The bateau gently follows the natural collarbone and enhances the bust area so it's a great neckline if you have a small bust. Where a larger busts can look even bigger. It can also be paired with sleeves or without sleeves.
// V-neck
As the name suggests, a V-neck plunges down in the front (and sometimes in the back) into a V shape. It can be quite a sexy neckline as it shows off the neck decolletage. V-necks are great for apple shapes as they can create the illusion of height. It also works well on hourglass figures too. A great neckline if you're a B or C cup. If you're smaller A cup, avoid this neckline as your bust will simply look more reduced.
// Scoop
The scoop is a U-shaped neckline, which can be flattering on most brides. It can be quite a low neckline and just about suits everyone.
// Halter
The halter features straps that connect and the back of the neck. This is a great neckline if you're broad shouldered and tall - above 5' 7".
// Portrait
The portrait neckline is characterised by a wide scoop that softly flows from shoulder tip to shoulder tip. It can offer a small capped sleeve, because of this, it's a great neckline for fuller arms and a strong collarbone.
